Schuylkill businesses are cited

Two Schuylkill County businesses have been cited by the Allentown enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violating the state liquor code.

Brody's Bar & Grill, located at 101 Jackson St., Port Carbon, was cited for the manager failing to devote full time and attention to the operation of the licensed business.The licensed corporation was not the only one pecuniarily interested in the operation of the business, the board stated.Also, the operator failed to maintain complete and truthful records covering the operation of the licensed business for a period of two years immediately proceeding May 2.Also, it sold alcoholic beverages after the restaurant liquor license expired on March 31, and had not been renewed and/or validated.The manager of the business, Richardo J. Marks Jr., was employed by or engaged in another business without board approval, in that Marks also devoted 40 hours per week to a brewery.Klingerstown Hotel, located at 92 Main St., Klingerstown, Upper Mahantongo Township, was cited for sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to a minor, 19 years of age.The violation occurred on June 26.These charges will be brought before an administration law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious ones.In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation based on the severity of the charge brought.
