Nesquehoning man facing multiple charges

A Nesquehoning man is facing multiple charges following incidents on Monday.

Police identified the suspect as Michael Kristen Peters, 42, of 7 E. Railroad St.According to police, at 2:33 a.m. Monday patrolmen Dane O'Brien and Carl Breiner were dispatched to 106 W. High St. for a report of an unknown person attempting to enter a motor vehicle. The officers were met by the complainant, Mark Sniscak, who said he was awakened by the alarm on his vehicle and saw an unknown man running eastbound on West High Street.After speaking with Sniscak the two officers began a patrol in the immediate area and observed a male walking westbound in the block of West Catawissa Street who was identified as Peters from prior contacts. When told to stop, Peters fled on foot through various backyards in the area. Peters was later located, and after waiving his rights admitted fleeing from police and attempting to enter Sniscak's vehicle. He said he wanted money to purchase more narcotics.As a result, Peters was charged with flight to avoid apprehension, escape, loitering and prowling at night, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He was then released.At 8:42 the same day, O'Brien was dispatched to the Fuel Up station along Route 209 (Catawissa Street) for a report of a suspicious male walking along the road.The person was located and identified as Peters. He was arrested on an active warrant. A search was conducted of his person and two pills were found: a blue pill with "605" inscribed on it, and a white pill with "155" on it.As a result of this incident Peters was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Assisting Nesquehoning police in the first incident were officers from Jim Thorpe, Lansford and Weatherly. In the second incident, officers from Jim Thorpe and Lansford assisted.
