Tire blows out, driver injured

A Tamaqua woman was seriously injured when a tire blew out on her vehicle causing her to lost control and crash. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday along Route 209 in Blythe Townshihp, just south of Middleport borough.

Troopers said Erica D. Fritzinger, 35, was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango southbound and negotiating a left curve when the front left tire blew out. Fritzinger lost control of the Durango which went onto the berm and struck a roadside embankment.The Durgano then rolled over, coming to rest on its wheels along the berm. Fritzinger, who was wearing a seat belt, was freed from the vehicle by rescue personnel and transported to a Pottsville hospital for treatment of what troopers said were major injuries. The Durango was towed from the scene.Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Good Intent Fire and Yorkville Fire companies, and a Pottsville medical unit.
