Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rummel of Tamaqua celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 21.

Mrs. Rummel is the former Dorothy Herring of Barnesville. She is retired from the garment industry, and was last employed at the former Sprite Manufacturing in Tamaqua. She celebrated her 84th birthday this year.Her husband is a life-long resident of Tamaqua and retired after spending 46 years in the newspaper industry, starting at the former Evening Courier, then the former Mahanoy City Record-American and the Reading Eagle.He met his wife while employed at the Courier and will celebrate his 88th birthday on Nov. 19.The couple has four children: Susan Sanders of Tamaqua; Donald of Hometown; Terry of Ocala, Florida; and Sandra in North Carolina.They also have eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
