Troopers will conduct operation safe stop

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks will be conducting an "operation safe stop" detail on Wednesday.

The operation is to alert the motoring public of the dangers of passing stopped school buses loading or unloading students. Police officers will target selected school bus routes that have demonstrated a high incidence of illegal passes for violations of the stopped school bus statute.During the operation, which will run between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., marked patrol vehicles will follow targeted school buses. What people will not see is unmarked patrol vehicles, as well as uniformed and nonuniformed troopers riding inside the school buses conducting the school bus enforcement.
