Schuylkill County commissioners approve contracts

Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved two one-year provider contracts on behalf of the Children & Youth Services Agency.

They are with True Core Behavioral Solutions, Tampa, Florida, for Coal Township Youth Academy, at a per diem of $240, and with Youth Service Agency, Jim Thorpe, for residential care at a per diem of $158, weekends at a per diem of $158, and with Penndel Residential at a per diem of $158.

Commissioners also approved an addendum with Schuylkill Intermediate Unit, Mar-Lin, for day treatment.

The addendum extends the existing contract through June 30, 2018 and increases the contract cap by $84,000.

Also, the county courthouse will be closed next Monday in observance of Presidents Day.

In other business, the county salary board approved three new per diem clerks for the district attorney’s office.

Katelyn Stine, Jane Pritiskutch, and Ann M. Zeth will each earn $12 an hour with no benefits.

The Adult Probation Department has a new aide, Zachary McDonald. He’ll earn $18.54 an hour.

The Retirement Board learned that the county’s retirement fund reflected the recent stock market roller coaster, dropping from $143,333,136 last month to $137,816,351 as of Wednesday morning.

Controller Christy D. Joy said he wasn’t surprised by the drop, given the recent fluctuations.
