Scenes reminiscent of the year 1917 were re-enacted in Mauch Chunk this morning when Robert Lobien, a 23-year-old Second Ward resident, entrained for Wilkes-Barre aboard a

L.V.R.R. train amid a tumultuous ovation. Lobien was among the first Carbon County draft eligibles to volunteer for selective service training with Uncle Sam's first peace time army.More than 1,000 residents, 500 of them school pupils, witnessed his departure. Music was played by the Mauch Chunk and East Mauch Chunk bands.
