Nesquehoning Smokey fire damages home

Heavy smoke damage was reported to a residence on West Railroad Street in Nesquehoning during a fire call Friday night.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. when a neighbor report smoke in the affected home.Dense smoke was evident inside the house.Nesquehoning police were the first emergency responders on the scene. They said they attempted to enter the home but reached only the first floor before being driven back by the smoke.Firefighters were seen carrying a mattress from the house.The Nesquehoning, New Columbus, Hauto, Jim Thorpe, Lansford, and Summit Hill fire departments responded.It was called under control in about 20 minutes.There were no reported injuries.
