Historical association accepts preservation awards nominations

The Monroe County Historical Association is accepting nominations for the 10th Annual Historic Preservation Awards.

The association will present three awards to business and/or individual owners of historic buildings who have shown their dedication to preserving and enhancing Monroe County's historic structures.The three categories to be judged are: private residence; nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization/publicly funded; and commercial properties.The association is seeking property owners who have continued upkeep, rehabilitated and restored their structures in a manner that preserves and respects the historical character of those buildings. Eligible buildings must be 75 years old.Commercial and nonprofit buildings must interpret the structures' history through promotional materials and in-house displays.Nomination forms must be returned to the Monroe County Historical Association by Jan. 13. Winners will be notified in early February and invited to the association's 93rd annual meeting and Awards Luncheon at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort on Feb. 22.The nomination form is available at the Stroud Mansion, 900 Main St. in Stroudsburg. or
