Carbon bank robbed Tuesday

A Carbon County bank was robbed by a lone suspect on Tuesday after it had closed.

State police at Lehighton said the Jim Thorpe National Bank branch office located along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township was robbed about 3:50 p.m.Troopers said the suspect entered the bank by smashing a glass security door. Once inside he approached three bank tellers and demanded money. After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash the suspect fled the scene through the smashed door and across 903.A search of the area was conducted but the suspect was not found. The suspect is a white male, who was wearing dark clothing and a mask. No one was injured in the incident. Police did not indicate if the suspect had a weapon.The investigation is continuing.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 610-681-1850.
