Woman jailed after rehab

A Carbon County woman was jailed on Monday on an escape charge for leaving a rehabilitation facility and not returning to the county prison.

Nesquehoning police said Alexis Goldberg, 24, of 146 W. Patterson St., Lansford, was furloughed from the county prison on Aug 25, on order of Judge Joseph J. Matika so she could enter a inpatient rehab program run by the Salvation Army in Harrisburg. On Oct. 3 Officer Timothy Wuttke received a call from county detective, Timothy Nothstein, that he received information that Goldberg failed to return to the county prison when she was discharged from the treatment facility in Harrisburg as was provided in the court order issued by Matika. The court order stated if Goldberg did not immediately return to the county prison upon her release from the rehab center she would be considered an escapee.Wuttke then secured a warrant for Goldberg's arrest for escape. On Monday Lansford police picked up Goldberg on the warrant and took her before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford. She was committed to the county prison after failing to post $10,000 straight cash bail on the escape charge.
