Honor all veterans

Dear Editor,

With Veterans day around the corner, I want to acknowledge, no, deeply thank all veterans living and deceased.Without them, only God knows how different life on this earth would be today and since the wars in which they served. My Dad was a WWII vet and Mom a Civil Defense warden. Many uncles and cousins have proudly served. Several paid the ultimate cost of freedom.Take time this Veterans Day to identify the sacrifices of your loved ones. Write them down so the next generations will realize their family's patriotism and, God willing, emulate and preserve these profound examples of love of country and commitment to family and fellow man.As it has been written so well:It's the military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It's the military; not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It's the military; not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It's the military who salutes the flag; who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag. These fine people work beside us, stand with us in line at the grocery store and sit in our pew in church. Also, it's the guy sitting quietly nursing his beer while the too many around him condemn our war now or one in the past.If you care, offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation and make time for recognizing our military this Veterans Day.Be steadfast in prayer for our men and women who have served and are currently serving our country and pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. We recently saw "Fury" in a local theater. I had read it's quite realistic. If so, I know why so many who have served have so little to say about the experience. We deeply thank you veterans!God bless America!Yours truly,Jeannie PaslawskyTamaqua
