PITTSBURGH (AP) - Gov. Tom Corbett says he called Democratic Gov.-elect Tom Wolf to concede defeat and congratulated him on a well-fought fight for Pennsylvania's highest office.

Appearing at a post-election gathering at a Pittsburgh hotel Tuesday night, the Republican governor thanked his supporters and said he's proud his administration cut waste in the state government, reduced state spending for the first time in 40 years and put the state's economy on the right track.

Wolf's victory makes Corbett the first governor to be denied a second term in the 40 years that governors have been allowed to serve two terms.

Corbett, a former two-term state attorney general, has had a rocky term as governor and struggled to sell his record as a fiscal and social conservative in his re-election campaign.
