New band cabinets approved

Pleasant Valley School District's board of directors voted to purchase PVHS band room cabinets from Reed Associates for $28,557.

The board voted, 8-1, with H. Charles Hoffman abstaining, to elect H. Charles Hoffman as the board treasurer, effective July 1-June 30, 2015. The board also approved, 8-1, with Hoffman abstaining, a stipend of $650 as compensation for the board treasurer for that term.The board approved, 9-0, the law services for the 2014-2015 school year:• hired Newman, Williams, Mishkin, Corveleyn, Wolfe, and Ferrara as solicitor at an annual retainer of $20,000 and an hourly rate of $170 for services not covered by the retainer.• to use Sweet, Stevens, Katz and Williams LLP at an hourly rate not to exceed $185 an hour.• to use King, Spry, Herman, Freund and Faul LLC at an hourly rate not to exceed $175 an hour.• to use the Levin Legal Group at an hourly rate not to exceed $190 an hour.• to use the Bollinger Law Firm LLC at an hourly rate not to exceed $225 an hour.The board approved, 9-0, the following retirements:• Effective at the end of the 2013-14 contract year: Doris Becaccio, full-time paraprofessional associate; Terry Heck, custodian, who wishes to remain on the custodian substitution list; Robert Robinson, custodian; Winifred Serfass, monitor; and Susan Vegetabile, secretary• Effective the conclusion of 2013-2014 school year: Maureen Shields, teacher; Jim Terwilliger, teacher.• Effective June 30: Beth Klausman, custodian; Gina DeVito-Curry, food service; Annemarie Gorman, part-time paraprofessional associate; Kathy Suarez, secretary; Frances Suswal, food service.• Rosemary Stenlake, full-time paraprofessional associate, effective Aug. 31, but she wishes to remain on the substitute list; Marie D'Amato, bookkeeper, effective July 31.The board approved the retirement of Linda Zeliznik, student information data specialist, effective July 31, and school board recorder, effective the conclusion of the Thursday board meeting.Superintendent Carole Geary and the board wished her well and expressed their appreciation of her services over the years.The board voted, 8-1, with Steve Borger voting no, to furlough the following professional employees: Chad Friend, Timothy Hinton, Adrianne Keefer, Phillip Masiello, Yvette Shelter and Meghan Sobieski.The board approved, 9-0:• Appointment of Linda Woehrle as deputy tax collector to act on behalf of June O'Neill, tax collector of Chestnuthill Township, term from Jan. 1, 2014-Dec. 31, 2017, accepted by Chestnuthill Township supervisors and is of no additional cost to the district.• Mastercraft Sports Flooring to abrade, clean and coat the PVHS gym at $3,750• To purchase PVHS band room cabinets from Reed Associates for $28,557 to be paid from 2006 Bund Fund.• 2014-2015 lunch prices: breakfast, paid daily, $1.25; breakfast, reduced, $.30; breakfast, 10-day ticket $11.50; breakfast adult, $2.70; milk only $0.50; elementary lunch, paid daily, $2.40; elementary lunch, 10-day ticket, $23; elementary lunch, reduced, $0.40; secondary lunch, paid daily, $2.50; secondary lunch, 10-day ticket, $24; secondary lunch, reduced, $0.40; kindergarten juice, N/A; kindergarten milk, N/A; adult lunch, $4.25.
