Blue Mountain Health System will offer a mammogram clinic from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Palmerton campus, 135 Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton for those who are uninsured or underinsured. It includes a free mammogram and clinical breast exam with a health care professional.

Breast cancer screening looks for signs of cancer before a woman has symptoms. Screening can help find breast cancer early, when the chance of successful treatment is best. Two tests are commonly used to screen for breast cancer: mammogram, a low-dose X-ray exam of the breasts to look for changes that are not normal, and clinical breast exam. A health professional looks at and feels the breasts and under the arms for lumps or anything else that seems unusual.A prescription for a screening mammogram will be supplied.Appointments are limited; registration is required at 610-377-7070.
