A monument to the victims of elder abuse will be dedicated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Centre Street and Laurel Boulevard in Pottsville.

The dedication marks the 10th anniversary of the Schuylkill Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance.

In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Sovereign Majestic Theater on North Centre Street.

The dedication is the highlight of a day of events marking the anniversary.

At 11 a.m., SEAPA board of directors and dignitaries will meet at the Graystone restaurant, Pottsville, for a coffee social and an explanation of the monument by its creator, Baut Studios of Swoyersville, Luzerne County.

At noon, Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging Brian Duke will visit the Senior Community Center in Pottsville. At 12:45 p.m., there will be a lunch and presentation of the Hornbrook Memorial Award at the Graystone.

A candlelight vigil is planned for 7:30 p.m. at the monument. In case of rain, the vigil will be held at St. Patrick's church on Mahantongo Street in Pottsville.
