Utility companies were on-scene early this morning after a one-vehicle crash sheared a telephone pole in Nesquehoning.

The accident happened late last night, Nesquehoning police stated.

A Toyota Corolla, driver not identified, struck a utility pole along Route 54 East, at the intersection of Park Avenue in the Hauto Valley Estates portion of Nesquehoning sometime before midnight.

Police were not notified of the accident until around midnight, when an area hospital called to tell them that a male showed up for evaluation.

Motorists driving in the area at 6 a.m. this morning, observed utility crews on-site working to repair the pole.

According to the PPL Electric website, no power outages were reported in the immediate area overnight.
