Tamaqua Tax Collector Pam McCullion has new hours for her office at 6 S. Lehigh St.From March through October, the office will be open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Mondays; from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays; and from 9 a.m. until noon the last Saturday of each month.For more information or directions, call 570-668-6220.Older and bolderThe Salvation Army's Older and Bolder group will spring back into action March 19. The regular Wednesday meetings are held at the Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St., and include a light luncheon.The first meeting of the year will have an Irish/green theme. They will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. March 20, at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.Anyone interested in keeping the playground open is welcome to attend.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. A contemporary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Tamaqua YMCA, including nursery and primary church. Sunday school classes, for all ages, will meet at 9:15 a.m. at the church. The monthly worship service at the Tamaqua ABC High Rise will be held at 6 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Good News Club meets at 3:45 p.m. at the South Ward Playground; Wednesday, Community Lenten service, noon, at St. Jerome's, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 8:30 a.m., praise practice at 9 a.m., music workshop at 10:30 p.m., super seminar CEF training event begins at 9 a.m.The Northeast District Youth Retreat will be held at Twin Pines from March 7-9.Two new Growth Groups will begin next week. They include "A Place to Belong," which meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and at 1 p.m. Thursdays. This six-week study group is geared toward women and will focus on developing lasting relationships, finding acceptance and encouragement."Why Believe" is a four-week study investigating the scientific and historical evidence supporting the Biblical teachings of God and faith in Him. Participants will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville.
