Jerome Joseph Barron, son of Duane and Michelle Barron of Tamaqua, earned a doctor of osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine on June 1.

Commencement exercises were held at the Erie Insurance Arena in Erie.This was LECOM's 18th commencement ceremony.Following graduation, Jerome was promoted to the rank of captain in the United State Army. His residency will be completed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, N.C., his active duty station.Married to the former Amber Fountain of Collegeville, he is the grandson of former Tamaqua residents Joseph and Marge Romano and graduated from Tamaqua Area High School in 2005 and Alvernia College in 2009.
