"If we come out smashing the ball like this again, I truly believe we can beat anybody."

Those were the post-game words of Towamensing head coach Randy Schoch after Tuesday's victory over Anthracite. The Towamensing bats kept rolling on Friday, as they were victorious over Franklin Township, 12-2, in a District 18 11-12 Little League clash.Towamensing struck in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.Luke Eitner smashed a bullet over the left field fence that got out in a hurry with runners on the corners that gave Towamensing the early advantage. The game was just a four-run contest heading into the top of the fourth inning.Franklin Township starting pitcher Ethan Lutz was consistently around the strike zone keeping his team in the game. Lutz also added a solo home run in the third inning."A few pitches got up and they hit it out," said Franklin Township head coach Tony Fristick. "We knew they have a few strong hitters that can hit the ball hard. It's a learning experience."Eitner also got it done on the mound for Towamensing. The starting pitcher tossed four innings and struck out eight batters."Luke is our stud and we pulled him at 50 pitches," said Schoch. "We're going to send him out there our next game and hopefully he can get the win for us."Even when our best pitcher comes out, we're able to make the defensive plays behind the next guy that steps on the mound to stay in games."The lead was extended to 9-2 during the fifth inning thanks to contributions from multiple Towamensing hitters.Brock Bollinger had two RBIs, Colby Kunkle drove in a run, and Schoch credited Matt Doherty with an impressive piece of hitting as he crushed an opposite field triple."We started out slow," Schoch explained. "Lutz pitches well and the side arm angle threw us off a little I think but we got going when he was pulled."Blake Eitner eventually slugged a two run blast over the center field fence in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 11-2.Schoch couldn't have written the script any better for Towamensing, as the very next better was Luke Eitner who smacked his second home run of the contest to end the ball game."I told Luke to go up there and end the game right now and he did," said Schoch. "I don't think anyone is going to contend with us if we keep hitting the ball this well."This loss was Franklin's first of the post season."We'll have practice tomorrow and a home game on Sunday," Fristick said. "We knew they were going to be tough. I told them to keep their heads up; there aren't many teams left and we're still one of them. If we made one or two other defensive stops, this would have been a closer game."Franklin Twp. 001 10 - 2 2 3Towamensing 311 34 - 12 9 1Lutz, Fristick (4) and Hawks; Eitner, Schoch (5) and Bollinger.
