Late Friday night motorists travelingRoute 209 near the new bridgeconstruction site in Jim Thorpe begancalling the Carbon County Communications Center reporting what they believed to be a possible subsidance in the roadway. With the heavy rains, people were comcerned that the steep embankment would wash away at the site where a new bridge will carry Route 903 over the Lehigh River and railroad yard to intersect with Route 209. Officials of the construction company monitored the site during the weekend.
