Lehighton building addition could cost $490K

An addition to its light and power building could cost Lehighton up to $490,000.

Just two companies submitted proposals to the borough on Friday, with C&E Ankiewicz, of Mountain Top, Luzerne County, turning in the apparent low bid of $487,082.That bid was $8,309 less than the $495,391 proposal turned in by Kistler Buildings of Fogelsville.Borough Manager Nicole Beckett said the borough had set aside $400,000 from this year's light and power budget to afford the project.The project consists of, but is not limited to, a 72-by-105-foot pole building addition to the existing Light & Power building, located at 551 Bridge St.Beckett said borough council could award the project when it meets at 7:30 p.m. June 23.A synopsis of the bid breakdown is as follows:Base bid: C&E Ankiewicz, $117,755; Kistler Buildings, $128,840Insulation: C&E Ankiewicz, $52,675; Kistler Buildings, $69,849Concrete floor: C&E Ankiewicz, $111,284; Kistler Buildings, $78,210Site work: C&E Ankiewicz, $112,655; Kistler Buildings, $132,210Garage doors: C&E Ankiewicz, $39,595; Kistler Buildings, $36,890Sprinklers: C&E Ankiewicz, $44,535; Kistler Buildings, $42,290Geotech services: C&E Ankiewicz, $8,583; Kistler Buildings, $7,102.
