Historical board reviews projects

During a meeting Tuesday, the Tamaqua Borough Historical Architectural Review Committee recommended three projects as appropriate and tabled two:

Guo Cheng Wu, 119-123 West Broad St.The applicant is expanding the existing restaurant and is requesting to install a number of fixed windows and a new entrance. The applicant also wants to change the first story facade to stone and construct a ramp for accessible entrance at the rear of the property. The committee recommended a certificate of appropriateness.Tamaqua Save Our Station, 18 N. Railroad St. The applicant is requesting to install a vinyl banner from the existing building canopy at the north end of the building facing North Railroad Street. The banner, which will be 3 x 12 feet, will be displayed on a temporary basis. The committee recommended a certificate of appropriateness.Rottet Motors, 117 S. Greenwood St. The applicant is requesting to build a 14'8" x 58'8" addition to the existing dealership building. The addition will be finished with materials matching the existing stone veneer and dryvit. The proposed addition will have an entrance with a concrete ramp with railing. The addition will be on the eastern side of the existing building.Two applications were tabled until further information is obtained:Pencor Services, 200 East Broad St., is requesting to remove the existing vertical wood siding and replace with red brick to match existing.Joseph Berezwick, 253 West Rowe St., is requesting to enclose the existing rear porch viewable from Lafayette Street only. The existing rear porch consists of three sides and will be closed by adding an exterior wall parallel to Lafayette Street.
