New dairy princess, court crowned

Hannah Miller, the 19-year-old daughter of Russel and Christine Miller of Tamaqua, was crowned the 2014-2015 Schuylkill County Dairy Princess on Sunday, May 4.

With over 60 people in attendance at St. Peter's Union Church, Miller presented a speech and skit on the beneficial nutrients in dairy products.Miller will have three alternate dairy princesses: Audrie Wolfe, 20, daughter of Mark and Amy Wolfe of Pine Grove; Sarah Palerino, 16, daughter of Jeffrey and Kelly Palerino of Schuylkill Haven; and Jill Heffner, 16, daughter of Kent and Jodie Heffner of Pine Grove.Junior representatives were also chosen to assist Miller with promotions and have the potential to become the dairy princess in the future. Dairy Ambassadors include Allison Miller, 15, daughter of Allen and Joan Miller of Andreas; Kristen Schrader, 17, daughter of Barry and Bonnie Schrader of New Ringgold; and Grace Daubert, 15, daughter of Allen and Ann Daubert of Pine Grove.The four dairy maids include Kayla Beige, 11, daughter of Ned and Susan Biege; and Eva, 12, Rachel, 10, and Samantha Scheitrum, 9, daughters of William and Christine Scheitrum, all of New Ringgold.The Lil' Dairy Miss is Emma Scheitrum, 7, also a daughter of the Scheitrums.The Schuylkill County Dairy Promotion Team is already actively promoting the dairy industry and looks forward to a full schedule in June, which is National Dairy Month.Miller will travel to Elizabethtown College in July for a three-day training session, also known as "Dairy Princess Boot Camp," and will also be participating in the Pennsylvania State Dairy Princess Pageant in September for a chance to promote the dairy industry at the state level.The junior promoters will have the opportunity to attend a miniseminar in June which will also be a "boot camp" to teach the younger promoters everything they need to know about serving on a dairy princess court, including public speaking, promoting dairy products and professional appearance.When asked about what she looks forward to during her reign, Miller said, "I look forward to teaching and informing the public about the particular health benefits of milk and other dairy products."Those interested in having the Schuylkill County Dairy Princess and her court attend an event may contact Darla Romberger, booking chairwoman, at 570-617-8074.
