Weissport Police officer begins duties

Weissport Mayor Jonathan Troutman said police officer Trevor Flexer has finally been cleared to begin working in Weissport.

"He will be on duty on July 22," Troutman said.He said that Flexer needed additional paperwork because he also works for another borough, and now that paperwork is complete. The police officer is ready to work," said Jillyan Sterling, secretary. "He said that he loves his new uniform."Weissport has been without a police officer for months. The last officer, Steve Armbruster, was hired for a full-time position and had resigned.Troutman said that the police car battery has been replaced and the car is ready for Flexer.Troutman also is getting tough on car owners who park improperly or don't have their cars registered."Cars that are parked illegally or do not have proper registration are going to be towed," Troutman said.Troutman has also issued an order to borough workers that if they see any chairs on borough streets put there by residents to reserve parking spaces, they should pick them up and put the chairs out for garbage collection.
