Shockers secure top seed

The Franklin Township Shockers wrapped up the top seed for the upcoming Keystone Senior Babe Ruth League playoffs. The Shockers finished regular season play with a 16-3 record after beating the Panther Valley Black Diamonds in two of three recent games. The Towamensing Yankees also split in double header play with East Stroudsburg to close out the regular season.

BABE RUTHShockers-Black DiamondsIn the opening game of a Saturday dobleheader, the Panther Valley Black Diamonds scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Franklin Township Shockers, 2-1.Luke Stawick pitched a complete-game five-hitter, striking out eight to lead the Black Diamonds.Matt Hudicka drove in the tying run for the Black Diamonds while Matt Buss drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the winning run. Frank Nietz added a hit, a stolen base, and a run scored.For the Shockers, Anthony Rossino had a strong game on the mound, tossing six shutout innings before running into trouble in the seventh. Rossino struck out five.
