Schuylkill County sentencings

Several local people have received sentences by Schuylkill County judges. All of the defendants must pay court costs and fees in addition to their punishments.

Judith Allen, 57, of Tamaqua, was sentenced June 18 by Judge James Goodman on a charge of receiving stolen property to six to 12 months of home confinement and pay $198 in restitution to Walmart.Charges of conspiracy and theft by deception were dropped. She was arrested by Rush Township police on Aug. 31, 2013.In a separate case, with the same charges filed by Rush Township police on Aug. 29, 2013, Goodman imposed the same sentence, with the conspiracy and theft by deception charges dropped.Raymond B. Miller Jr., 44, of Ringtown, was charged by Rush Township police with terroristic threats, aggravated trespass, criminal mischief, travel on cultivated lands, operating a vehicle on streets without insurance or registration from an incident on July 6, 2013.Goodman sentenced him to pay $231.65 in restitution to Jack Shafer, serve 12 months of probation and perform 20 hours of community service, have no contact with the victim, and pay a $100 fine on the charge of criminal mischief. All other charges, except the terroristic threats, were dropped.Eric J. Garrity, 34, of Pottsville, was charged by Rush Township police with retail theft, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property from an incident on Aug. 15, 2013. Goodman sentenced him to six to 12 months in jail, with immediate parole as he had served his minimum time, and pay $115 in restitution to Walmart.Charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were dropped.On a separate charge of retail theft filed by Rush Township police on Sept. 27, 2013, Goodman sentenced Garrity to pay $576 in restitution to Walmart and placed him on a year's probation.Ian N. Thrasher, 38, of Lansford, was charged by Rush Township police with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief stemming from an incident on Oct. 25, 2013. Judge Palmer Cyrus Dolbin sentenced him to eight to 23 months in jail. Charges of criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were dropped.Dolbin also sentenced Thrasher to the same punishment on the same charges stemming from a separate incident on Nov. 19, 2013.Christopher Hill, 27, of New Ringgold, was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft stemming from an incident on March 25.Dolbin sentenced him to 12 months probation. He must also undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow up with treatment. The charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dropped.In a separate case, Hill was charged by Tamaqua police with terroristic threats, simple assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and retail theft from a Feb. 1 incident. Dolbin sentenced him to up to 23 months in jail. The disorderly conduct charge was dropped.And in a third unrelated case on Jan. 24, Tamaqua police charged Hill with possession of a controlled substance. Dolbin sentenced him to 12 months probation.Monica Brown, 24, of Tamaqua, was charged by Tamaqua police with criminal attempt stemming from an incident on Nov. 22, 2013. Dolbin sentenced her to one to 12 months in jail.In a separate case, Dolbin sentenced Brown to pay $618 in restitution to M&T Bank and to serve 12 months of probation on charges of theft by deception. Charges of access device fraud and receiving stolen property were dropped.Jason A. Weaver, 32, of Tamaqua, was charged by West Penn Township police May 21, 2013, with giving false identification to police and driving without a license. Dolbin sentenced him to 12 months probation.Michael M. Sedlock, 26, of Tamaqua, was charged July 31, 2013, by Rush Township police with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and having no rear lights. Dolbin sentenced him to 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a $1,000 fine, lose his license for one year, obtain drug and alcohol treatment, perform 10 hours of community service, and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety School course.Aaron J. Nichols, 23, of Nanticoke, was charged on July 1, 2013, by Rush Township police with retail theft, receiving stolen property, defiant trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dolbin sentenced him to 23 months of probation on the retail theft charges. The other charges were dropped.
