Panther Valley defeated Pine Grove on Thursday night to move within one victory of clinching a District 11 playoff berth.

Panther Valley used a strong start to grab the early lead and hold out for a 48-43 win over Pine Grove.

Jake Sczcecina led all scorers on the night with 28 points, including five treys for the Panthers (10-9, 4-6 SL).

Meanwhile, Pine Grove was led by Kobe D'Agostino with 17 points, while Jed Blankenhorn followed with 14.

Palisades pulled out a close Colonial League win over Northwestern, 49-44.

Devin Ramsden led the Purple Pirates (6-12, 3-10), with 13 points, while Nate Newborg chipped in 10.

For Northwestern (4-15, 1-12), Logan Schwartz scored 13.

The Tigers pulled out a 47-43 win in the JV game.

Leading the way for the winners was Eric Marbury, who hit seven triples en route to 31 points on the night, while teammate Anthony Holmes followed with 17.

Will Bornstein led all scorers on the evening with 22 points for the Blue Eagles, while his teammate, Kyle Slane ensued with 16.

For the Olympians (2-16, 1-9 SL) Chris Micciche led the way with 13 points.

Blue Mountain also pulled out a win in the JV contest, 61-37.

The Lady Wreckers put three players in double digit scoring, as Courtney Lovett nailed 13, Cheyanne Wallish pitched in 12 and Dominique Adamczyk scored 11.

Emily Benfer led all scorers, as she hit for 19, while teammate Madison Burrows scored 10.

Tamaqua improved to 12-6 on the season with a 54-25 win over Jim Thorpe.

Thad Zuber led the winners with 11 points, while teammate Dylan Woods added eight.

8TH GRADE

Tamaqua defeated Jim Thorpe 37-14 in eighth grade hardwood action.

Mitch Kurek led the Blue Raiders with 13 points, while Zuber added eight to help their team improve to 14-2-1.

7TH GRADE

Tamaqua pulled out a 35-28 win over Shenandoah Valley in seventh grade basketball action.

Greg Davis led the winners with 10 points, helping the team improve to 12-3 on the season.
