Tamaqua Chief of Police Richard Weaver (left) accepts the keys to the department's new police cruiser from Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison. The 2014 Ford Interceptor is the second Interceptor in the department and has been designated as Unit 178. The new cruiser was purchased from Kovatch in Nesquehoning through a state program for approximately $22,000. The purchase was approved last year by Tamaqua Borough Council as part of a long range plan to provide officers with up to date equipment.
