Two persons sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the intersection of Rotue 209 and Catawissa Street in Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township.
State police at Frackville said Donna Folweiler, 63, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2004 Dodge Caravan southbound on 209 and approaching the intersection when a 17-year-old male from Tamaqua, driving a 2000 Dodge Neon, pulled out from a stopped position on Catawissa Street and into the path of Folweiler.
Folweiler attempted to avoid impact by swerving hard to the left, troopers said, but could not avoid a collision. The front of the Caravan hit the driver's side of the Neon. Both vehicles ended up on the east shoulder.
Folweiler and passengers Cheryl Blanco, 55, of Nesquehoning, and two 5-year-old female juveniles, from New Philadelphia and Tamaqua, were all taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.
The police report indicated Folweiler and Blanco sustained minor injuries and the two juvenile females, property seated in child safety seats, were not injured as was the 17-year-old male driver.
Troopers said the teen driver will be cited for a stop sign violation.
