Winter walk

Schuylkill On the Move (SOM), a project promoting positive steps towards good health through walking, will host a Winter Walk on Feb. 16 along the local Lehigh Valley and New England Rail Trail in South Tamaqua. The walk will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and will begin at Stonehedge Gardens, located on Dairy Road near the intersection of Route 309 and Route 443.The four-mile ramble is considered to be an easy walk, but participants should wear appropriate footwear and dress for the winter weather.For more information, contact Mike McKinney at

Training provided by the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center of Schuylkill and Lebanon Counties will focus on a bystander intervention program, offering awareness, education and skills-practice.An intensive four-day training session is scheduled to begin March 17 at the Morgan Campus of Lehigh Carbon Community College in Tamaqua.
