Bids for the former adult education center in Jim Thorpe are now being accepted.
According to a public notice published in the TIMES NEWS this week, the Carbon County Area Vocational Technical School Authority is now accepting bids for the adult education building, portable classroom and 3-acre property, located at 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe, across from Carbon Career & Technical Institute. It has been appraised at a combined $257,000.
Information, specifications and bid forms must be obtained in the CCTI business office between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Prospective bidders can receive a tour of the property by calling 570-325-3682 ext. 1515.
Sealed bids will be accepted at CCTI until 3 p.m. March 26; and will be open during a public opening of bids meeting at 3 p.m. March 28, in the CCTI cafeteria.
The adult education center, which formerly housed CCTI's day care and GED instruction program, was vacated on Dec. 31, 2013.
The property is owned by Carbon County Area Vocational Technical School Authority.
Before it could be sold, the authority needed to get approval to proceed with the sale from the five Carbon school districts that comprise CCTI.
