Leah Marie Heffelfinger of Palmerton is the Concourse Club of Palmerton's Guiding Star for January.

A Palmerton Area High School senior, she is a member of student Council, Environmental Club, and vice president of National Honor Society.

Leah, a talented athlete, showed the trophies, medals and plaques she earned while competing in competitive runs and triathlons. She also enjoys being outdoors, singing and learning new things in the medical field.

This past summer she traveled to Italy with the Student Ambassador Program and helped with a charity for special education students. Through National Honor Society and Environmental Club she is involved in many community activities.

She is the daughter of Scott and Corinna Heffelfinger. Other family members include Tanya, Jess and Scott Heffelfinger.

Leah will be attending Muhlenberg Collge to study premed with the intention of becoming a physician specializing in Sports Medicine.

A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class and involved in both school and community activites.

Each Guiding Star receives a certificate, an engraved Guiding Star charm and a $100 cash award from the club.
