Towamensing Township approves field regulations

Towamensing Township supervisors have approved rules and regulations for the recreation field.

The regulations were proposed at the Dec. 5 meeting."It is municipal property," said Supervisor Tom Newman at that meeting, "and residents live in the surrounding area."Field use is to be limited to 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.Alcohol and loud music are prohibited.The concession stand will be closed from Nov. 1 to April 1 because of the possibility of freezing water pipes. If a schedule runs late the association can have another week to close up.The roadmaster will winterize the building and mow every two weeks.In other business, Steve Perisi, who is building the new state police barracks along Route 209, asked for a reduction of his letter of credit. A special meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 23 to review the request after engineer Greg Haas checks on what has been completed at the site.Marge Faust was hired at a rate of $20 per hour to type zoning and subdivision notes provided by Carl Faust, zoning officer.The roadmaster reported there were four snow removal days in December.Tax collector R. Bruce Reiner was sworn in for the year 2014.Supervisors announced that Christmas tree pickup will be Jan. 16.
