The Kidder Township Board of Supervisors met for their annual reorganization on Monday evening.

Newly elected supervisor Thomas La Fond, who had been sworn in earlier in the day, took his seat along with three of the other four returning supervisors. Supervisor Larry Polansky, who is currently recovering from triple bypass surgery, attended the meeting briefly by telephone.

The first order of business was to name a new chairman. A motion was made by Polansky to elect Bob Lengle as chairman, while a motion was made by Thomas La Fond to name Tom Bradley Jr. as chairman. The vote was split between the attending supervisors, and the tie was broken by Polansky, who voted for Lengle.

"I have thought about this long and hard. There are two supervisors who deserve the position, both are very capable, but only one can be chairman. Looking at everything they have done for the township and how involved they have been, I have to go with Bob Lengle. But I must say it was not an easy choice," Polansky explained.

The vice chairman position was filled by Bradley. Polansky will take over as police chairman. La Fond will be the new road master. The road master's salary was set at $10 per hour.

Lengle retained the position of treasurer and Suzanne Brooks retained the position of township secretary. Township manager Lisa Kleim will fill the position of assistant secretary and treasurer.

John Toft will remain as chairman of the Vacancy Board. Daniel Miscavage was reappointed as township solicitor at a rate of $95 per hour and an annual retainer of $6,000. Brior Environmental Services was appointed to handle sewer enforcement and Arro Engineering & Environmental Consulting was hired as township engineers.

La Fond was appointed as liaison to the Planning Commission and the Zoning Hearing Board. Charles Velzy was reappointed to the Planning Commission along with new member Ellen Matt. Christine Lindsey was reappointed as secretary to the Zoning Hearing Board.

William Behret was reappointed to the Zoning Hearing Board and Peter Ginopolas is a new appointment to the board. Lou Montanaro was appointed as an alternate to the Zoning Hearing Board. The board of supervisors set the salary for the Zoning Hearing Board at $35 per meeting.

Supervisor Frank Pieri was appointed liaison to the Environmental Advisory Council. Councilmen Frank Gilotti and Larry Gould were reappointed to the EAC.

The board appointed supervisors Bradley and Pieri as liaison to the Kidder Township Fire Commission. La Fond and Lengle will serve as liaison to the rescue squad.

The elected auditors for the township are Cheryl Jones, Maude Montanaro and James Dow.

The supervisors set the dates for the monthly meeting as the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
