Giveaway dates changed

The clothing ministry group of St. John’s Lutheran Church, South Avenue, has announced new dates for the annual clothing giveaway. It will now be held on Thursdays, Aug. 1 and 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays, Aug. 2 and 9, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays, Aug. 3 and 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you have any questions, please contact Mary Strohl or Bonnie Hoffman at the church office. Volunteers are also needed to help with the large influx of shoppers on these days. If you can help, contact Mrs. Strohl at 570-325-2294.

Class events

Members of the Jim Thorpe High School class of 1969 are planning their 50th reunion for the weekend of Aug. 23 and 24. Members are reminded that reservations are due by July 31. The weekend will begin with attending the home football game, Saturday, touring the high school and that evening dinner at Dean Anthony’s Restaurant. The picnic/pool party for members of the class of 1964 Jim Thorpe will be held on Wednesday at Ed Solomon’s home at Halifax. Class members are to contact him if you will be attending.
