Roads slick and snow covered

Area residents report roads are snow covered and slick in the Times News region.

Richard W. Szoke reported, "Palmerton borough in the West End is not good at all."As of 5 p.m., he said, "The turnpike is pretty good. Interchange road from the McCall bridge to Country Inn was really sloppy for a state road."Brandi Kuernag said, though that the Hometown Hill was covered at 4:30 p.m. "Traffic is crawling," she said.Kristopher John said the roads were slick everywhere in his travels. "Almost lost it going down the little hill on first street by the gas station and again on the mansion house," he said.The storm is expected to continue through Friday morning, with accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Blowing and drifting will occur. Temperatures will drop below zero.The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has reduced the speed limit on area roadways, including Interstate 80 in Carbon County.Post your road conditions on our Facebook page.
