The Tamaqua Area School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2014-2015 school year Monday, April 7 through Wednesday, April 9 at the Rush Elementary School, and Thursday, April 10 at the West Penn Elementary School.

Appointments may be made by calling 570-668-3306, beginning March 3, between the hours of 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.Registration packets will be available before March 3, at all three of the district's elementary facilities. Forms are also available at the district's website,

www.tamaqua.K12.pa.us.Children who will be 5 on or before Sept. 1 are eligible for kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year.Parents/guardians are advised to bring necessary immunization records to the registration appointment. Proof of immunizations must be provided before a child will be admitted to school.State law requires that all children entering school for the first time must have written proof of the following immunizations: four doses of Tetanus; four doses of diphtheria; three doses of polio; two doses of measles; two doses of mumps; one dose of rubella (German measles); three doses of Hepatitis B; and two doses of varicella (chicken pox) or a record of having chicken pox.Students will be evaluated by a classroom teacher, a nurse and a speech therapist at the time of the registration appointment.
