Magnet sales help animal shelter

The Adopt a Dog For Life month campaign in Carbon County was a success.

During the county commissioners' meeting on Thursday, Commissioner Thomas J. Gerhard announced that a total of 13 dogs were adopted from the county's animal shelter in February. That doubled the monthly adoption average in January. He said that Tom Connors, manager of the shelter, said that he contributes the reduction in adoption fee as a major reason for the increase in dog adoptions. Currently, 17 dogs are available for adoption.Gerhard added that he and Connors, as well as shelter volunteers, attended a family event at L.B. Morris Wednesday, where a $150 donation was presented to them from the school."It was nice," he said.Gerhard thanked Connors for the great job that he is doing at the shelter. The newest fundraiser, Gerhard explained is a magnet campaign.
