Firefighters from five communities battled a fire that heavily damaged a vacant house early this morning in Lansford.

The fire happened shortly before 2 a.m. at 22 E. Kline Alley. Flames caused heavy damage on the first floor and front porch of the structure.

A state police fire marshal has been summoned to help determine the cause.

There were no reported injuries.

Although firefighters had a quick knock-down of the fire, they remained at the scene for about two hours.
