Several months after its closure, the former Blue Ridge Country Club in Palmerton has been sold.

Tim Nagle, president of Blue Ridge LLC, based in the Lehigh Valley, said the company purchased the 315-acre property from First Northern Bank and Trust Co., Palmerton.The property, located at 2230 Fireline Road, will now be called the Blue Shamrock Golf Club, said Nagle, who declined to comment on the actual purchase price.Nagle said the golf course could be open by the end of March, weather permitting. The indoor facility could be open by early April, he said.Yearly golf packages are available, Nagle said.The Blue Shamrock Management Team sent a welcome letter to members of the former Blue Ridge Country Club, as well as business associates, Nagle said.The letter details improvements to the property, such as a new pub and grill area with outside patio; a newly remodeled upstairs bar and dining area; new online tee times and smart phone app (with email confirmation); and unlimited green fees with up to 12 days advance tee times (tee times will be open to public five days prior).The existing golf course will feature a new seven-acre driving range, and practice facility upgrades.In October, Blue Ridge Country Club's executive committee announced that a "deed in lieu" had been signed, and as of Nov. 30, First Northern Bank and Trust Co., Palmerton, took over the property.The restaurant closed Nov. 17, and the club closed its doors on Nov. 27.The course and all property at BRCC was closed to everyone on Dec. 1.Blue Ridge LLC is comprised of Nagle, his wife, Lisa, his father-in-law Bruce Ebert, and his sister-in-law Tari Ebert, who are all equal partners.Together, they own Pipeline Petroleum Inc. of Macungie, which has been in operation for 65 years, as well as Pocono Oil & Propane of Stroudsburg, which has been in business for 40 years. In addition, they are involved in Blue Mountain Ski Resort near Palmerton.
