NBA Matchup

Kim and Russell Cox, Albrightsville

It was 1995. We were co-workers and friends first. Then one day Russell decided that we already had so much in common, why not date?We began dating early in 1997. By the beginning of 1998, we had started to discuss marriage. We went together to pick out a ring, but the details of the proposal were top secret. Meanwhile, Russell was carefully planning the proposal. At the time, we worked for NBA Entertainment in Secaucus, N.J. They taped several NBA television shows and other media-related events at the studio in Secaucus. One of the shows was named, "NBA Matchup," which was perfect for how we got together in the first place. Little did I know that this was the show that Russell was planning to propose during. It was common for the employees in the building to fill in as "extras" during the shows, so I didn't think anything was unusual about being asked to sit in on the set. They started the next take for the show, when all of a sudden they announced Russell as one of the guests for today's show. I still did not realize what was going on I figured they were rehearsing again before the actual taping until they called me up on stage. That's when I knew this was it!Russell got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I accepted of course, and the entire studio burst into applause (Yes, we have the entire thing recorded). We were married in July of 1999, and have lived in Albrightsville since 2005.
