Police investigate Schuylkill crashes

State police reported on the following crashes in Schuylkill County:

• A crash occurred at 11:20 a.m. Saturday in Mahanoy Township, as Mark S. Kessler, 54, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Howard A. Teetor, 59, of Windsor, New York, and Daniel W. Antonetti, 61, of Port Jervis, New York, were all southbound in the right lane. State police at Frackville said Kessler veered off to the right into a weigh station entrance. Antonetti, about 400 feet south, saw in his rear view mirror Keesler veering off and began to pull over onto the right shoulder to call 9-1-1. Teetor, still in the right lane, started passing Kessler.

Troopers said Kessler’s 2015 Chevrolet Cruze bounced off the guide rail and veered to the left and his vehicle sideswiped Teetor’s 2019 Jayco Red Hawk motor home. The Cruze then veered off the guide rail again and drove directly into the trailer portion of Antonetti’s 2019 International Harvester truck-tractor.

Kessler was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Medical Center — East, Pottsville, by Ryan Township ambulance. Teetor and Antonetti were not injured. The Cruze sustained severe damages and had to be towed.

Troopers cited Kessler for careless driving.

• A second crash occurred at 9:01 a.m. Saturday along Route 61 in Butler Township. Troopers said Jeffrey G. Fago, 41, of Ashland, was southbound and slowed and came to a stop due to a deer crossing the road in front of him. His 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer was rear-ended by a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Kelly A. Brensinger, 25, of Locustdale.

No one was injured and both vehicles had to be towed. Troopers cited Brensinger driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A crash was reported at 6:06 a.m. Nov. 15 along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township. Troopers said Joseph R. Evans, 56, of Frackville, was driving a 2017 Toyota RAV4 southbound and negotiating a slight right curve when a deer entered the road in front of him. Evans applied his brakes and swerved to avoid the animal but could not with the front of the RAV4 hitting the deer.

Evans and passenger, Catherine F. Evans, 55, same address, were not injured. The RAV4 had to be towed.

• A crash occurred at 6:06 pm. Nov. 15 along I-81 in Foster Township. Gaetan Lauzon, 74, of Saint-Eustache, Quebec, Canada, was driving a 2009 Hyundai Genesis southbound. Lauzon said there was a dead deer in his lane of travel and he ran over it and continued south with his vehicle overheating. He stopped near Route 25. Lauzon and his passenger, Lucie Landry, 65, same address, were not injured.
