Project will be finished soon

Chestnuthill Township supervisors announced the Lake Mineola Road project will be completed by the end of the year or early in January, as long as the weather holds out.

They voted to approve payment of the project's last bill about $129,000. Township manager David Albright said the project came in under budget. The township received a $600,000 Local Share Account grant for the project. The grant is funding through Act 71 (the Gaming Act). According to the state Department of Community and Economic Development who created the usage guidelines for Monroe County, the money is to be used for economic or community development or public interest projects.Albright said the Lake Mineola Road project included the rebuilding of the first 600 feet of the roadway, as well as the construction of a new 350-foot section. The new roadway section is near the medical center being built by the Pocono Medical Center.Albright said this 350-foot section will be used by the township to access the medical facility.Because the medical offices are expected to open soon, the township has been in a hurry to finish the roadway project, he said.Work on the Lake Mineola Road project was handled by Northeast Site Contractors in East Stroudsburg.
