Teen takes lotto tickets, confesses

A last-minute attack of conscience resulted in charges being filed against a MaryD teen.

Boyer's Food Mart manager Shelly Young contacted Tamaqua Police on Dec. 5 to report that an employee had found a roll of lottery tickets outside the building. Review of the surveillance tape showed the employee who "found" the roll was also the person who had removed it from the store.When confronted by police and management, the teen confessed to taking the roll, valued at $600, the night before. He had second thoughts about the theft and decided to return the tickets.He was charged with retail theft.
