Probation, parole hearings held

Carbon County judges conducted probation and parole revocation hearings on petitions filed by the adult probation office against defendants on supervision who violated the terms of their release.

Those who had hearings included:Bryan Baker, 28, of Weatherly, had his parole revoked on a charge of receiving stolen property on petition filed by probation officer Joseph Bettine for violating conditions by failing to submit to a urine screen, failing to complete drug and alcohol treatment, failing to complete mental health treatment, zero-tolerance provision violated, and failing to complete 100 hours of community service.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced him to serve six months in the county prison effective July 21.Stephanie Weirich, 38, of Lansford, had her probation revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance on petition of probation officer Clifford Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance.Matika resentenced her to serve 45 to 90 days in the county prison with credit for 73 days already served. The order states she must serve the full 90 days.Troy Rehrig, 28, of Palmerton, had his probation revoked on a charge of retail theft on petition of probation officer Kimberly Cooper for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates, failing to submit to a scheduled urine screen, admitting using heroin and failing to obtain a D&A evaluation.Matika resentenced him to served 90 days to seven months in the county prison followed by a year probation. The effective date was Aug. 28.Jonathan Groegler, 26, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a driving under the influence charge on petition of Cooper for violating conditions by failing to complete safety driving school and D&A treatment.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II resentenced him to serve three months back time effective March 2, 2015. However, if he completes the required D&A treatment and safety school by then, the order will be vacated.Kyle M. Frantz, 21, of Lansford, had his parole revoked on charge of arson on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, testing positive for a controlled substance and failing to submit to scheduled urine screens.Matika resentenced him to serve three to six months in the county prison, and it is consecutive to a three-month prison term imposed in another case.Jesus Rolon, 34, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a charge of obstructing administration of law or other government function on petition of probation officer Jillian C. McGinley for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates, which violated the zero-tolerance provision.Matika resentenced him to serve 90 days in the county prison effective Sept. 19.Tanya Hosier, 35, of Lehighton, had her probation revoked on a charge of criminal conspiracy-retail theft on petition of McGinley for violating conditions by having new criminal charges filed on July 17 by Lehighton police, and admitting to heroin use.Matika resentenced her to serve six to 12 months in the county prison effective Aug. 14.Holly Koch, 22, of Lehighton, had her parole revoked on a charge of receiving stolen property on petition of McGinley for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, and testing positive for opiates, which violated the zero-tolerance provision.Matika resentenced her to serve the balance of her maximum term, which runs to May 4, 2015.Jessica Davis, 20, of Lehighton, had her parole revoked on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance on petition of McGinley for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates.Judge Steven R. Serfass resentenced her to serve six months in the county prison effective Oct. 21.Jesse Krum, 22, of Lehighton, had his probation revoked on a charge of failing to furnishing drug-free urine, on petition of McGinley for violating conditions by testing positive for controlled substances on numerous occasions, and failing to obtain a D&A evaluation and follow recommendations.Serfass resentenced him to serve 90 days to 12 months in the county prison effective Oct. 27.Joseph Gindhart Jr., 28, of Philadelphia, had his placement in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on a charge of possession, sale, use or display of documents on a vehicle revoked on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, absconded from his approved residence, being cited for disorderly conduct and harassment, failing to pay court costs and fees, and failing to perform 50 hours of community service.Matika ruled the case be placed on the next available trial list.
