Several schools in our area are closing early due to the impending snow, sleet and freezing rain that is expected to pelt the region this afternoon and evening:

Tamaqua Area School District: All secondary schools will dismiss students at 11 a.m. Elementary students, including morning kindergarten, will be dismissed at noon. There will be no afternoon kindergarten.Pleasant Valley School District: The high school will dismiss at noon. The middle school will dismiss at 12:10 p.m. Pleasant Valley Elementary and PVI will dismiss at 1 p.m. Morning kindergarten will dismiss at 1 p.m.; there will be no afternoon MCTI.Lehighton Area School District: The middlesSchool will dismiss at 12:20 p.m.; the high school will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.; and the elementary schools will dismiss at 1:15 p.m. All after-school activities are also cancelled.Panther Valley School District: The high school will dismiss at 12 p.m.; the middle school at 12:30 p.m.; and the elementary school at 1 p.m.Palmerton Area School District: Secondary students will be dismissed at noon. Elementary students and morning kindergarten will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m. There will be no afternoon kindergarten.Jim Thorpe Area School District: The high school will dismiss at 1 p.m.; the LB Morris School and Penn Kidder Campus will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. There will be no after school activities.Weatherly Area School District: All students will be dismissed at 1 p.m.Pocono Mountain School District: All schools will dismiss two hours early.Carbon Career and Technical Institute: Will dismiss at 12:30 p.m..Carbon County Head Start: Students will be dismissed one hour early.
