Panther Valley Middle School club sponsors canned food drive

For the second year in a row, the Panther Valley Middle School Humanitarian Club sponsored a canned food drive to stock area food pantries during theholiday season.

The club, led by sixth-grade teacher Meredith Alabovitz, initiated a challenge to the student body to see who could bring in the most canned goods.In total, students brought in 1,400 cans, up from 1,300 collected last year.Julie Gower's homeroom collected 270 cans, which earned them a pizza party.The sixth grade as a whole brought in 634 cans and will be rewarded with aPanther Valley Spirit Dress-Down Day.
