Palmerton schools reopen Monday

Palmerton Area School District will open for students on Monday. Elementary students (K-6) begin at 8:30 a.m. and dismiss at 3 p.m.

Morning kindergarten dismisses at 11:15 a.m., and afternoon kindergarten sessions begin at 12:15 p.m. Junior high school (7-8) and high school (9-12) begin at 7:30 a.m. and dismiss at 2:25 p.m.On Monday, junior high school students report to the junior high school gymnasium. High school students should report directly to the assigned locations noted in their "back to school" letter. CCTI students should board their buses at the high school by 7:15 a.m. for the ride to CCTI.School bus schedules will be posted at all district school entrances, on the school district website and appeared in the Times News.Any questions regarding bus scheduled should be directed to Leon George II School Buses Inc. at 610-826-7684.Cafeteria prices and menu informationLunch prices have been set at $2.10 elementary students and $2.20 for secondary students. Milk is available for $0.55.Reduced lunch prices for all qualifying students are $0.40 cents. Junior/senior high school breakfast is available for $1.25 and elementary breakfast is available for $1.15. Reduced breakfast prices are $0.30 for qualifying students.Free and reduced lunch applications may be obtained in the cafeteria. The total enrollment as of Wednesday is 1,959, with 519 in the high school, 318 in junior high, 460 at SS Palmer Elementary, 192 at Parkside Elementary, 375 at Towamensing Elementary and 95 at CCTI.The district has 70 cyberschool students, at a cost of $9,158.74 regular tuition and $19,782.01 for special education tuition.The cost for students who attend regular schools is $8,275.19 for elementary and $8,659.67 for secondary.
