Those on the front lines in the battle against heroin addiction will testify at a hearing to be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Penn State University's Schuylkill Haven campus. The session, aimed at gathering information about the newest drug concerns and prevention methods in Schuylkill County, will be held in room C-100, the third building on the left at the end of the campus.
Speakers include state Sen. Dave Argall, R-29; state representatives Jerry Knowles, R-Berks/ Schuylkill; Mike Tobash, R-Schuylkill/ Berks; and Neal Goodman, D-Schuylkill.
Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine Holman will testify, as will Gary Tennis, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs; Michael W. Ogden, program director of The Bridge, Philadelphia; Bob Carl, executive director of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce; William Rowan of the Schuylkill Medical Center Drug and Alcohol Center; Melissa Chewey, director of the Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol program; District Judge James Reiley, Tamaqua police chief Rick Weaver, and other state and local officials.
